Practicums and Internships
The Clerc Center provides a unique setting for outstanding interns, student teachers, practicum students, field experiences, and volunteers interested in pursuing careers in deaf education or relevant service fields. The breadth of learning opportunities at the Clerc Center are varied and have included:
- Student teaching from early childhood through high school
- Social work
- Student development programs
- Theatre production
- And more
Placement at the Clerc Center’s two demonstration schools -- Kendall Demonstration Elementary School (KDES) and the Model Secondary School for the Deaf (MSSD) -- depends on a wide range of factors, including need, availability of supervision, and the practical goals and communication skills of applicants.
If you are:
- A college student at an accredited institution interested in observing classes for course credit
- An undergraduate or graduate-level student enrolled in an accredited program of instruction preparing you to become a professional in the field of deaf education seeking an internship or practicum placement
