Kendall School Library

The Kendall School Library primarily serves KDES students, teachers, and staff. It also serves individuals from the Model Secondary School for the Deaf (MSSD) and Gallaudet University.

Library Hours

The Library's hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday (excluding Tuesday - closed at 3 p.m.), on scheduled school days and during the summer months.


Children's Library (Main Room)--This room contains picture books, fiction, folklore, nonfiction, easy-to-read books, biography, reference books, big books, and children's magazines. The books for the Accelerated Reader (AR) and deaf-related books in children's literature are also shelved. A TV with DVD and VHS players may be used for small group discussion.

Computer Lab/Materials Room--This room has six computers and a laser printer. It stores ample visual resources of videotapes, filmstrips, study prints, posters, and vertical files. Deaf-related professional books and special collections are on shelves.

Teacher/Staff Room--This room is the home of the collections in Guided Reading (GR) and the Shared Reading Project (for SRP tutors only). The publisher's catalogs, professional books, and professional journals are also shelved there.
