MSSD Performing Arts Program

The Model Secondary School for the Deaf (MSSD) Performing Arts Program cordially invites you to attend our performances this season!

All performances are at MSSD's Theatre Malz, on the campus of Gallaudet University: 800 Florida Avenue, NE, Washington DC 20002-3695.

  • $8 – Adults
  • $7 – College students/senior citizens with I.D.
  • $5 – Children (ages 13-17)
  • $3 – Children (ages 4-12)
  • Free – Children (ages 3 and under)
  • $3 - Per person for school groups

Fall Showcase: Alice In Wonderland, Jr.

Directed by MSSD senior Tyler Naeyaert

Performances:

  • November 9 at 10 a.m. (with audience Q&A afterwards)
  • November 10 and 11 at 7 p.m.

About the show:

On a perfect summer day in the park, Alice daydreams while her sister Mathilda lectures from a book and children play games nearby. A White Rabbit suddenly hurries past Alice, who follows him to the edge of his hole, anxious to know where he is going. She ponders Mathilda’s advice before jumping into the dark tunnel and encountering many strange creatures on the long way down.

36th Annual Winter Dance Concert: Experience the Magic

Directed by Yola Rozynek

This year MSSD celebrates bringing 36 years of outstanding dance performances to the stage of Theatre Malz, highlighting our talented high school dancers and choreographers and introducing audiences to a wide array of professional deaf and hearing dance companies. Join us for this year's "Experience the Magic!"

Spring Showcase: Grease

Nearly nine years have passed since MSSD students last gave their greased-lightning performance to the community. We’re eager to bring back the Pink Ladies and T-Birds to Theatre Malz for our spring musical. Will Danny and Sandy make their true love last through music and song?
